NSW notice periods use calendar days. Weekends and public holidays remain part of the ordinary notice-period count.
The service day
Do not count the day the notice is served. The next calendar day is day one.
Weekends and public holidays
They remain in the notice-period count even though non-working days are skipped while calculating the separate postal delivery allowance.
Postal delivery comes first
A posted termination notice receives seven working days for delivery before day one of the notice period.
Working days for post
Weekends, statewide public holidays and the NSW bank holiday are excluded from the delivery allowance. Applicable local holidays still need to be checked.
Email and address delivery
These methods do not receive the seven-working-day postal allowance, but their consent, address and proof requirements still matter.

Common questions
Do weekends count in a NSW termination notice?
NSW notice periods use calendar days, including weekends and public holidays. The separate postal delivery allowance uses working days.
Do public holidays count?
For covered Queensland rules, a period ending on a weekend or applicable public holiday moves to the next business day.
Does the day I send the notice count?
No. The day the notice is served is excluded from the notice-period count.
Why does post add working days?
Post changes the service calculation. Queensland requires enough time for delivery; supported NSW termination paths add seven working days before the notice period begins.
Does email add delivery days?
Email can be used only where the relevant electronic-service consent and address requirements are satisfied. Keep evidence of service.
Is the notice period tied to the rent-payment cycle?
The answer depends on the state, person giving notice, agreement type, ground and service method. Use the calculator, then check the linked official source.
