What this calculator checks
The calculator selects the current rule matching the role, agreement and ground; resolves service timing; counts the minimum period; applies verified weekend, public-holiday and fixed-term constraints; and compares a proposed date when one is supplied.
Example: fixed-term tenant notice
A tenant emails an ordinary fixed-term Form 13 on 7 September 2026. Fourteen clear days finish before the agreement end on 30 September, so the later fixed-term end controls the calculated handover date.
What it cannot decide
A date alone cannot prove that the ground, evidence, prior steps or service are legally effective. Unsupported and complex cases stop with an official-check result instead of inventing an answer.

The answer depends on the state, person giving notice, agreement type, ground and service method. Use the calculator, then check the linked official source.
Does the day I give the notice count?
No. The day the notice is served is excluded from the notice-period count.
Does a weekend change the notice date in Queensland?
For covered Queensland rules, a period ending on a weekend or applicable public holiday moves to the next business day.
What if I post the notice?
Post changes the service calculation. Queensland requires enough time for delivery; supported NSW termination paths add seven working days before the notice period begins.
Can the parties agree to an earlier date?
The parties may agree in writing to end earlier where the official guidance permits. Keep the written agreement.
